MHTN is seeking an experienced Senior Healthcare Planner to join our growing healthcare practice. This position will help lead the planning and programming of healthcare environments that support exceptional patient care, operational efficiency, and long-term client goals. A successful candidate will partner closely with healthcare providers, administrators, architects, engineers, and design teams to translate clinical workflows and strategic objectives into innovative, functional healthcare facilities.

This position offers a unique opportunity to immediately contribute to a large, complex healthcare project currently in design while helping shape the future growth of MHTN's healthcare practice. The ideal candidate brings expertise in healthcare planning, regulatory requirements, facility operations, and clinical workflow analysis and enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex healthcare design challenges.

What you’ll do:
  • Lead healthcare planning and programming efforts for hospitals, ambulatory care facilities, outpatient and inpatient care environments, and other healthcare facilities.
  • Collaborate with user groups, facilitate stakeholder engagement sessions and planning workshops with healthcare clients.
  • Develop functional programs, space allocations, departmental relationships, and planning concepts.
  • Interpreting healthcare regulations, licensing requirements, accreditation standards, and applicable codes.
  • Collaborate and innovate with architects, interior designers, engineers, and consultants throughout all project phases.
  • Conduct operational assessments, facility evaluations, and strategic planning studies.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to the continued growth and technical excellence of MHTN's healthcare practice.
  • Participate in client presentations, project pursuits, interviews, and healthcare business development efforts.

What you’ll bring:
  • Expertise in healthcare programming, planning, clinical workflow analysis, and the development of functional programs and planning concepts for complex healthcare facilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare codes, licensing requirements, accreditation standards, FGI Guidelines, life safety requirements, and healthcare building systems.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare delivery models, clinical operations, and healthcare planning best practices.
  • Exceptional facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and client relationship skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication abilities.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively across project stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Revit and BIM workflows; experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of the local and regional healthcare market.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 10 years of healthcare planning experience, including leadership responsibility on healthcare projects.
  • Architectural licensure preferred.
  • Experience planning complex healthcare facilities
  • Experience leading large acute-care hospital projects preferred.
  • Master planning and healthcare campus planning experience preferred.
  • Experience presenting to executive leadership and governing boards preferred.
  • Active participation in healthcare industry organizations preferred.
  • ACHA, EDAC, LEED AP, or other healthcare planning credentials preferred.

This position is a full-time, salaried, overtime-exempt position based in Salt Lake City, Utah with a flexible hybrid work schedule. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications, with an anticipated salary range of $120,000–$140,000 annually, as well as a signing bonus.
